bullet Ludeman, R. B.  (Ed.).  (2000). The role of student affairs and services in higher education:  A practical manual for developing, implementing, and assessing student affairs programmes and services [pdf]  Publisher:  International Association of Student Affairs and Services Professionals (IASAS) in cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Office for Follow-up to the World Conference on Higher Education.  This historic document is the first one that has described the field of student affairs from a truly international perspective.  While student affairs has a long tradition within U.S. postsecondary institutions, it does not have the same tradition at institutions in all countries.  Several sections of the document describe standards and expectations for areas related to learning assistance and developmental education.  NADE has endorsed the document and encourage its members to consult it along with other standards as they evaluate their programs.
